Why is Apex Laggy now?
If your Apex Legends server is lagging, it's probably because it's overcrowded. To remedy this, download a secure VPN, such as NordVPN, and use it to connect to a server in the same location as the game's servers. This should fix the problem.
Update β 08/09/2022
The majority of the Lag and Connection issues in Apex Legends take place when you are on a server that has very high latency. If the Apex Legends is Stuttering for you, then you can try checking for demanding applications running in the background.
Apex Legends might be lagging due to several reasons, like overcrowded servers, ISP throttling, poor internet connection, inadequate hardware, etc. Switching servers and upgrading your internet and PC usually fixes the problem. As for ISP throttling, you'll need to use a VPN to evade it.
If your ping and latency are sitting at reasonable levels and you are still experiencing lag, you may just have an unstable connection. This is where your device is disconnecting and reconnecting to your internet and causing something called 'packet loss'.
You have to navigate to Origin and go to My Game Library. Right-click on Apex then select Game Properties. Go on to the Advanced Launch Options tab, type in β+fps_max unlimited,β and click Save.
At times your PC reduces its performance when the battery is low which can affect your Apex Legends game and cause a drop in FPS. To fix that simply jump into your Windows PC and click on the Battery icon on the bottom right-hand content of the screen.
Steve Ferreira β Game Director on Apex Legends β confirmed the targeted framerate on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 is a solid 120 FPS.
A ping under 20 ms is very good, and just under 100 ms is average. If you experience anything above 150 ms, you will detect delays in your gaming experience, such as lagging or freezing.
Ping amounts of 100 ms and below are average for most broadband connections. In gaming, any amounts below a ping of 20 ms are considered exceptional and βlow ping,β amounts between 50 ms and 100 ms range from very good to average, while a ping of 150 ms or more is less desirable and deemed βhigh ping.β
Achieving the lowest ping possible is ideal for using the internet. As such, a zero ping is the perfect scenario. This means that our computer was communicating instantly with a remote server.
Is 40fps good for Apex?
40β50fps is odd but still good. 60fps is optimal. 120β144fps is enthusiast high end.
Minimum System Requirements for Apex Legends
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system. OS: 64-bit Windows 7 and above. Processor: AMD FX 4350 or Equivalent, Intel Core i3 6300 or Equivalent. Memory: 6 GB RAM.

If you're playing Apex Legends on PC, you may notice FPS is capped at 144, despite most PCs being capable of pushing way more out. Many modern mid-to-high-end GPUs are capable of running the game with much higher than 144 FPS, even with moderate to high settings.
In order to play Apex Legends Mobile at a smooth 60fps you'll want to set 'Frame Rate Control' to Ultra. Do note: if your device isn't capable of running at higher settings, these will not show for you. For instance, on an old Pixel 3, we're only able to see 'Normal' and 'High' as options.
The most common reason for reduced FPS is graphics settings that create a larger workload than your hardware can handle. So how do you achieve better FPS? Getting a faster CPU, more RAM, or a newer graphics card is one solution.
